Not like several pounds or anything, I'm aware that would throw you off and like ruin your knees- I'm talking like 1/2 lb in each shoe when running that you remove during races. Also, what about using weights when not running? Like adding 5 pound ankle weights to your ankles during the day- does that help? Thanks, I'm trying to bring my 1600m time down.
Is running in weighted shoes a good idea for training?
yes and no. it helps you build more muscle strength, but if you switch from weighted to regular shoes it throws you off balance for a little.
5 pound ankle weights seem a little to much, try gradually adding weights at first.
Reply:I know I couldn't do that. i have a weak ankle and that would put too much strain on my ankles.
try weights around your arms instead.
