Is it good to have a stiff plastic plate run down the center?
Or is it better to have a flexible shoe?
Also is it better to have padding in the heel or not?
This question pertains to both the 100 hurdle and 300 hurdle races.
What should I look for when buying competition spikes for running hurdle races?
Get a middle distance shoe for when you run 300 hurdles, but a sprinting spike for 100 hurdles. They are different races. Get padded shoes for anything over 200 meters no matter what race.
Plastic shoe for short races such as 100 dash and 100 hurdles.
Reply:I cannot answer the first two questions, but in reference to the third, I would say there is no need for padded heels. Hurdlers run on their toes.
