Nike Frees? Are they good?

I want to buy a new shoes for my 7k race in 3 weeks. Are Nike Frees good? If so, which version?


I'm just wondering that rocks might get trapped in the sole. Don't you think? Can that even happen?

While I was at a specialty shoe store trying on new shoes, I asked the running expert about Nike Frees. He said they are really great because they strengthen your feet and build muscle in them since they mimic running barefoot. However, he told me it says specifically in the manual for the Free's and how you use them that you should only use them to run up to a mile because of the complete lack of support. And only a mile once you build up to it. So I'd say Nike Frees would probably not be your best bet for a 7k race. I'd go with Asics.

Reply:ya. they're a pretty good cross training shoe, but i would reccomend them as a 7k shoe.

Reply:Honestly i dont like Nike, nothing that hashappened to me, but i just prefer other brands. If i were you, I would get Aasics. I love that brand.
Reply:I would not reccommend the frees for a long race like a 7k. They do not have enough support, while I agree they are comfortable. They are not good racing shoes. Nike's shoes are always too stiff anyways. Try Adidas or New Balance
Reply:yes i have them and they are very light and they will strengthen your feet rocks won't get stuck but they are more of a training shoe and they don't have much support and would definately not reccomend them for a 7k race and would suggest something with a little more cushining.
Reply:these are good shoes. very nice for distance running and training long distances. but if you wear them all the time they dont support your feet enough and it could cause problems. also i wouldnt recomend running a race in new shoes that you havent had time to break in or try out to make sure they work for you. everyone's feet are different!
