What to race in for a marathon?
Most runners should race in their training shoe. The marathon is a lot of pounding and a good trainer provides the best protection. In addition, it's the shoes you've been training so you are used to it.

If you are a little faster and also a biomechanically effecient runner, you may want to race in a light weight trainer. If you are really fast, i.e. sub 2:45 for men, sub 3:00 for women then you may want to wear a racing flat.

Good brands of trainers are Asics, Brooks, Mizuno, Addidas, New Balance. Unless you are an experienced runner, it's best to buy running shoes from a local running store where they can help you pick out the right shoe. Saving a few dollars online is penny wise pound foolish if you end up getting injured and having to go to a physical therapist.
Reply:It depends on the size and width of your foot and whether you are an overpronator or what...go to a good running store it has to be geared to running not like a sports store ...this is where they will properly measure and check your gait and other things getting you a quality shoe custom fitted...I have had New Balance, Nike, Mizuno and Saucony...it depends whether your a Clydesdale runner or light weight...I like to train in a medium weight shoe with good support and race in a light weight trainer....maybe 9oz maximum ....do your homework.....
Reply:ZAPPOS.COM. But if you cannot try them on and run 26 miles with out blisters you'll be lucky.
