What running shoes should I get for 5k's? Please read details! Next pair of shoes?

Hi. I'm a teen and I love running. I'm about 5"3. I'd consider my self good but not amazing. Anyways it's time for me to get a new pair. These would be used for running 5k races and doing a couple mile practices. I don't really have any problems except my lower back hurts a bit at times but I think that's because I have bad posture. If that's important to know when picking shoes then there you go.

I've heard good things about Mizuno, Asics, New Balance

I've heard mixed opinons on Nike

I don't know much about Brooks or others

If you could rank some of the running shoe companies from best to worst and possibly state why that would be cool.

Anyways if you know any running shoes that would be good for me please list, specific models would be FANTASTIC!

Please help out a guy who loves running get a great pair of shoes?

Ive ranked the top shoes ive found from reading reviews . You can take a look and make your decision:

1) Asics: Gel Kensei shoes were quite difficult to critique because I FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM. These shoes are an absolute, that is if you have money to spend. They do not call them "Gel" for a reason they take the exact mold of your foot over foot over time. Also they keep your foot cool and dry which is ideal for long distance. They are also insanly comfortable ( I own a pair) and made of extreamly lightweight material.

Price: $160-$200

Average Product Rating: 10/10

2) Nike: Zoom Rs+ shoes are increadibly comfortable which provide a bed like structure for your feet, which would probably be an ideal for a long distance runner like your self. At the bottom of the shoe it has a "spring" so you get the most out of each stride without sacrificing comfort. Although these shoes arent exceptionally "pretty" there is a uniqness to them that makes them stand out

Price: about $100

The Average product rating is 9.5/10

3)New Balance: The NewBalance 992 are the newest edition to the legandary 900 family by New Balance. These shoes are a blend of durability comfort, and style.

Price: $ 134

The Average Product rating is 7/10

Every other shoe out there is just mediocre. Non are to special. I was surprised when i saw Mizuno amongst the "heard good things". Most Mizuno shoes wear down over time. Brooks models had a very low rating amongst runners, and everything else was just a joke

Hope this helped
Reply:Every runners feet are different and every runners stride is different. They key is finding the pair of shoes that best fit you.

The first step is finding shoes that fit comfortably. They should be snug, but not tight. Some brands tend to be wider than others, so that is something to look for when trying them on at the store.

The next consideration is stability. Some shoes are designed to provide more stability. That is great if you need it, but unnecessary if you don't.

Another consideration is cushion. If you have good running form, you shouldn't need much cushion at all. When I was still running, I preferred shoes with very little cushion. But I had excellent form which cuts down on the impact and wear and tear on the legs, knees and back.

When I was in high school I ran in Nike's. I always preferred the less expensive models for some reason. I think because of less cushion.

I ran in adidas in college. They took some getting used to, but it is what I still wear today for any athletic activity.

The Nike's were a little narrower in the toes, which worked will for me, but not so well for other runners.
Reply:don't buy new shoes for a single 5k if you aren't a serious runner
Reply:I run in Mizuno's (Wave Rider 10). My brother likes Brooks. But, all you need to do is go to a nearby running store. The person that works in the store should be an expert on running shoes and he or she will be able to answer all your questions. They'll measure your arch and be able to determine what shoe is appropriate. Good luck!
