How much time do spikes take off? And.. What do you think of these spikes for cross country / track?

I know that only the wearer should judge how a shoe is, but I'd like opinions on this pair of spikes:

What do you think? Will these be good for XC %26amp; track (I do the 5K, 800 m, 1600 m)? How long will they last (# of races, years)?

How much will spikes take off? Say if I run a 3:00 800m? Will I get 2:55?

Reply:I have never tried an Asics spike, but I have heard great reviews about it. Personally, I use a flat for those events (I run the same events as you!) because spikes are not really necessary in long distance events. That shoe does seem like a quality shoe but try a few other shoes before you make a purchase. I use a Brooks Mach 9 and I absolutely love them, so you may want to check those out. Those shoes should last about two seasons or about a year. You will be able to tell when you need new ones. Flats/spikes will take a little time off, but not a huge amount of time. They are lighter and smaller, so your turnover will be faster and running will be easier. Well good luck with your running! Happy track Season!
Reply:I ALWAYS wore spikes for XC and Track.

I think you will definately see an improvement if you choose to as well.

My spikes would usually last me 1 season. So i'd be getting a pair for XC, and a new pair for Track.
Reply:You definitely need two different spikes for cross country and track. For a 5k when i first used spikes I shaved 28 seconds off of my time. For the 800 and 1600 you want a light racing flat that DOES NOT have spikes in it. They don't do anything, that much grip only causes friction and slows you down if anything.
Reply:i think both of them would work for cross country and track

they should last for 1 year if u take good care of them and don't wear them out. if u use them almost everyday, then i suggest buying 2 pairs.

spikes will definately get u a 2:55 in 800m
