How much time do spikes take off? And.. What do you think of these spikes for cross country / track?

I know that only the wearer should judge how a shoe is, but I'd like opinions on this pair of spikes:

What do you think? Will these be good for XC %26amp; track (I do the 5K, 800 m, 1600 m)? How long will they last (# of races, years)?

How much will spikes take off? Say if I run a 3:00 800m? Will I get 2:55?

Spikes take off up to 1 second per 400m so at most you may go from 3:00 to 2:58 for an 800m or 10 to 15 seconds in XC. There are two kinds of distance spikes, those for track racing and those for XC.

Your links don't work for me. Personally, I do not recommend buying spikes online. They are cut differently than trainers. You may wear a size 6 running shoes but may need a size 7 spike. You really need to try them on to make sure they work for you. A good spike usually costs about $60. Anything from one of the major shoe companies is usually good. What matters is how the spike feels on your feet.

Assuming your feet don't grow and you only wear the spikes for racing and some speedwork training, they can easily last two years. If you want to go buy miles. If trainers last 300 to 500 miles, spikes last about 100 to 150 miles.
Reply:It really depends on the conditions of the track/course. The spikes are going to have less effect on the track than they would on a cross country course. Also, if it is raining or muddy they help substantially.

I would suggest these http://www.eastbay.com/catalog/productde...

You can use these for both XC and track
