Would Obama be a candidate if he were white?

Imagine that there's this person trying to be president, he is in his forties, endorsed by mainstream old white male democrats and has exhibited no experience in the senate or any other federal body. Would you say such a person has a chance of being the next president?

If not then people who are voting for him (not based on hatred of other candidates) are voting because he has dark skin?

Isn't that total and outrageous Racism?

On the other hand imagine there is this Senator with experience and policy ideas of Hillary but only a man, would that person be almost a shoe in for presidency?

Perhaps Obama is a candidate because of his apparent race and Hillary is a candidate despite her gender.

What a great time we're living in. It's 2008 right? How much behind the rest of the world are we?

Would Obama be a candidate if he were white?
You are very right. He is totally unprepared to head our country. Even if the times were better he would not be experienced enough, but with the mess Shrub is leaving behind it would lead to total chaos.

You are also right about Clinton. If she were a man with her experience, intelligence, understanding of the problems, and solutions for those problems, she would be a shoo in.
Reply:Its too late in the day. Get over the race issue. He is biracial and the parent he lived with for most of his life is his WHITE mother.

Yes I believe he would still be trying to become the president if he were ALL white. It's who he is and who he was destined to be but then would he have had the experiences that inspired him to want to change the world for the better?
Reply:i actually agree with you. i don't like obama... at all... black white or whatnot. he's still a muslim (or was) still turns his back on the american flag and won't say the pledge. just because he said he's not a muslim anymore... doesn't make him anyhting else.......
Reply:no.
Reply:It does not matter what he is. Smoke and Mirrors! Pure crap! A lot of good talk about how things should be but no talk about how he will do it!
Reply:Nope, because he's pathetic
Reply:He is such an inspiring speaker he would be a top candidate even if he was blue with yellow stripes!

As for Hillary she claims that she has 35 years experience even though she has been a senator for about 6 years. Before that she never had an elected office. Never ran a State, Never ran a City, never ran a school board, never ran a business, nothing. Yes she was in the White House for 8 years, but so was the pastry chef.

I also find it amusing that when she is asked about experience she represents herself as Bill's co-president; but when she is asked about any of the scandals and screw ups she answers "that was my husband's administration, and he's not running, I am." So which is it?
Reply:what s with the IF if if If in every question----

obama is awesome the way he is ---we do not know about ur IF

whats ur problem ???
Reply:Obama is a Harvard Law grad. He is intelligent, charismatic, and sociable

Would Bush Jr. be president if he wasn't the son of George Bush Sr.?
Reply:Bill Clinton was in his 40's and had only been the governor of tiny Arkansas when he won the election in '92 so that throws your experience theory out the window. Obama is a fresh new face that will bring about badly needed change in Washington which is why I will be voting for him.
Reply:If Obama were a white man, yes he would be a candidate. The nomination process would be a done deal. He'd already have the nomination. It's hard to give a response if Hillary were a man, because that would mean "his wife-Bill" would have been President. But if Hillary were a white male and Obama (as a white male) were running, Hillary would still lose. Now, if Obama wasn't running at all (as he is NOR as a white man), Hillary would have this nomination tucked in her pocket.
Reply:Umm..isn't he already a candidate? He's not the main one yet, but a candidate nontheless.
Reply:If Hillary was a man then she would not be a candidate. Bill wouldn't have made it either. I don't think America is ready for a homosexual president ;-).
Reply:Good Q, I don't know..... maybe this website could answer this Q for you...... I found it while webserfingon this topic......

Reply:I doubt it. I am not sure how he got so much press, but I am suspicious. I am far more disturb that there are people who are excited he is African AMerican, and Hillary is a woman, but never speak a word about policies.
Reply:why is white right?
Reply:he is white... Half white... Get over your race issues stupid
Reply:I would ask his mother Ann Durham, the white lady from Kansas, but sadly she passed away from cancer when she was 53.
